FROM THE EXILE SERIES-WHERE THE SILENCE LIVES

Should the emptiness be filled as it were? Since its birth in ancient Greece, our western culture has been haunted by horror of emptiness. But White space is fertile! I have been experiencing it in my painting, I have felt that these blank spaces, holes, absences and absolutes are like the silences of the poem or the music, they constitute its active part, creating an internal dynamism.

These are my new desired spaces, geographic coordinates that are both a sentimental and reflective geography, where color persists, dialogues and struggles with nothing. Giacometti affirmed that “The purpose of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity” … this is my premise, which allows me to launch these canvases onto the horizon, whose initial whiteness have given me the right to dream of color, but also with well thought-out gaps, creating spaces with their own vocabulary, in search of a personal construction of the world and of myself.
